Jason,
You raise a good point. However, Nielsen did follow up with a second article where they examined more than 30 websites and applications that feed into the Twitter community including: TweetDeck, TwitPic, Twitstat, Hootsuite, EasyTweets, Tumblr, and many others.

MattyMat,
Thank you for your colorful response. Can I surmise that your response is that sourcers and recruiters should not care about Twitter Quitters?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, it is a fact that Twitter has more unique visitors than LinkedIn - therefore it is a larger source of human capital. It does not take much effort to find software engineers, accountants, project managers on Twitter. Anyone is free to ignore these potential candidates.

I recommend checking out the demographics of Twitter users: http://bit.ly/11qFc6

Thanks for reading my blog - I appreciate it!

The Nielsen stats don't take into account third party apps such as TweetDeck or SeesmicDesktop. I never visit the actual Twitter website anymore so I don't count as a 'unique visit' but I do use the service...daily.

So I feel like their findings are skewed.

Twitter should be used just like any other posting or candidate resource. I'm tired of it's mystic of "popular culture" when it's just a fad to waste time for tweens, teens and stupid young adults. And for you to be pulled in like such a sucker into this obvious fad, I have a sub-prime mortgage I'd like to rip you off with.
