@ CJ van der Westhuizen - thank you for commenting! I tried your suggestion a number of different ways, and it certainly worked to some degree, but I also found it returned some false positives as well, with mentions of de and ch in the url that were not in fact country codes?

@Mueller - certainly not naive. :-) Your suggestion definitely works and I must admit I haven't seen anyone else comment to it. Perhaps it's because a person has no control over the initial set of locations displayed as they are automatically sorted by # of results, which will almost always be dominated by certain countries and even metro areas, especially in the United States. Even though your approach is simple, my guess is that most people simply don't take the time to think and realize they can type in and select additional locations in the "Enter location name" field and de-select the countries that are irrelevant to them. Wisdom is often brilliant in its simplicity. Bravo!

*simple thinking mode on* - what about searching in linkedin in the first instance without any location limitation
and then 'hohoho' restrict the search results afterwards in the location section?

Am I naive?

Hi,

As a Recruiter that's focused most of his sourcing efforts across EU countries, I have a little experience in this matter.

This article is well written and I thought I may add a couple of alternatives.

In addition to your search string, you could add the following:

inurl:"de OR ch OR au OR fr"

For all european profiles, the url contains the location prefix for each country, i.e. Switzerland = ch, Germany = de, etc...

It's certainly worked for me! :-)

Happy Sourcing!
