Ernie,
Thank you for commenting! I'm excited to hear Avature has implemented support of the NEAR operator - I can't say enough about how powerful it is for finding people based on what they DO, not just on what keywords are mentioned throughout their resume. I've had a demo of your product in the past, and I was impressed with the tagging functionality, which IMO adds even more ability to retrieve people based on what they do, not just what they say.

I appreciate you sharing my article on leveraging the NEAR operator to achieve semantic/natural language search. Regarding your support of the NEAR operator - is it a fixed distance, as it is with Monster (e.g., 10 words), or is the distance configurable?

Glen,

Just read this via the link provided in a brief blog of Matt Marlett on cloudrecruiting.net. I very much appreciate this article as a representative of Avature's Recruiting CRM. We recently implemented the NEAR operator as a step toward advancing semantic search in our flagship sourcing platform. I find this feature extremely efficient - especially when searching though a database of 200K+ resumes; however, I haven't been able to encapsulate its true efficiency potential in the brief time we discuss search in a demo. I am going to share your article with recent prospects and existing clients and experiment further with your Windows Admin example. Thanks for doing what only a person with a firm grasp on search technology can do - boil down a complex concept into a simple meaningful explanation and example.

Regards,
Ernie
