I too have been working on this same problem. 

The closest solution I have come up with is through the LinkedIn site, under the People search tab, you can conduct a Reference Search and limit the search to a specific company and employment year range; i.e. XYZ Corp / 1998 to 2007. 

That will still yield employees who are current, but will eliminate some. 

I also have tried a variety of inanchor, intitle, inurl combo’s after limiting the search to Linkedin’s site to no avail. 

I look forward to hearing about what solutions you and others come up with.
